The batch problem

"Pages per sheet" in the print dialog doesn't scale to a production run

Every print dialog has a "pages per sheet" option — and it works fine for one document at your desk. But it doesn't combine separate files, it doesn't add cut guides, and it lives in the driver, so the layout changes with the printer and can't be saved, shared, or handed to a print shop. When you have 500 half-letter receipts as 500 separate PDFs, "pages per sheet" is useless.

How placement works

Because it keys off each page's visible (crop) area, a form that occupies only part of its sheet is placed at its real size, not shrunk with the surrounding whitespace.
